Chic dining rooms can
be so stiff. For a little more intimacy, head to the dimly-lit
Ziggurat, where thick pillows are used in lieu of chairs. The
fledgling establishment, named after the step pyramids of worship
in Mesopotamia, offers a mix of Indian, Mediterranean, African,
and Middle Eastern cuisine. Complementing the essential curry,
pita, and shawarma fare are exotic meat and poultry stews from
Ethiopia, royal Chicken Takine from Morocco, and grilled dishes
from India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. To cap off a rather
taste-filled meal, share a relaxing hookah - the ancient Egyptian
water pipe uses flavored, low-nicotine tobacco to produce cool,
aromatic smoke.
